Dr. Srdjan Cvijic is a Senior Policy Analyst in the Open Society European Policy Institute in Brussels, a premier European think tank and part of one of the largest private philanthropic organizations in the world. He leads the Open Society Foundation’s advocacy in Europe on several foreign policy portfolios, including EU enlargement, Western Balkans, Turkey and North Africa.

Dr. Cvijic is frequently sought out by the media and has published extensively, in both academic and policy format, on EU foreign relations and the politics of the Balkans. He is a regular contributor to Politico, EU Observer, Euractiv, N1 TV (CNN regional affiliate), the European Western Balkans, Al Jazeera, Euronews and Deutsche Welle. His quotes have appeared in leading European and North American newspapers such as the Financial Times, the Economist, the New York Times, the New Republic, Le Soir (Belgium), Politiken (Denmark), Avvenire and il Piccolo (Italy), Capital (Bulgaria), NiN, Oslobodjenje and Blic (Serbia). He is a regular guest commenting on foreign policy related issues for Euronews, Radio Free Europe, Voice of America, the Radio Television of Serbia, Top Channel in Albania, TV Vesti 24 in North Macedonia, BBC Serbia or Danish Public Radio.

Previously Dr. Cvijic was a senior diplomat in the ministry of foreign affairs of the Republic of Serbia. Dr. Cvijic also worked as the advisor for the Special Coordinator of the Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe, European Policy Centre and the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.

Dr. Cvijic has a PhD from the European University Institute in Florence publishing extensively in the field of international public law, legal and political philosophy. He is a Serbian and Italian national fluent in English, French, Italian and Serbo-Croatian with some command of Russian, Arabic and Spanish.
